International spring seminar in Palma

There's a huge buzz around Palma as a top destination for conference and seminar groups at the moment and with a host of new hotels with state-of-the-art conference facilities and Mallorca's finest restaurants upping their game, the island is hosting more business groups than ever this year.

So in March, we were delighted to welcome back a international seminar group for a three-day programme, the third time that we have looked after the group in Mallorca. This Swedish-based organisation works with 74 organisations in 21 countries in research, engineering, metallurgy, technology and consulting.

The 80 delegates enjoyed an excellent dinner on their first night at a relaxed restaurant with panoramic views over Palma harbour. This is a perfect place to see the sun set over the bay with views of the cathedral and city beyond. The menu is geared up for sharing, including delicacies like zucchini carpaccio, grilled artichoke hearts, burrata with tomatoes and salmon tartare, followed by delicious fresh fish or beef, with classics like chocolate coulant for dessert.

Over the course of the three days, including for the formal seminar sessions, the group was based at a large and stylish contemporary hotel, a short distance from the centre of Palma, with 262 rooms. There are four meeting rooms for a maximum capacity of 100 people well equipped with conference facilities including plasma screens, projectors and video-conferencing. There are views the cathedral and the bay of Palma, an indoor and outdoor pool, fully-equipped fitness centre and sun terrace.

For the final evening, several of the group also met for a dinner in one of Palma's top city boutique hotels, located in the historic old town [photo of Hotel San Francesc] Named ‘Top Hotel in Spain and Portugal’ in the 2016 Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards, the hotel is located in an elegantly-restored 19th-century mansion and it has a private dining room for small groups of up to 12 people.
